With over 30 years of research, development and management in a variety of advanced technologies for the US Department of Defense and infrastructure protection manufacturing industries, Mr. Riley has demonstrated an ability to innovate, develop and commercialize advanced materials for diverse applications. His prior engagements include work for the US Army Research Laboratory, a GE subsidiary and Lockheed Martin, among others.
While in the private sector Mike has started a number of companies especially focusing on advanced cementitious materials and developing a new class of rapid setting cements and concrete materials for high-end applications including force protection and rapid repair. These materials were employed in Afghanistan and Iraq, and are now standards for repair in the military worldwide.
Mike has 9 issued patents and 3 pending patents. He has served as the Chair of US Army Blue Ribbon Panels investigating technical issues in military development programs. He has lectured at numerous symposia and presented technical papers at major technical societies, as well as many closed presentations on sensitive US government programs. He holds a BS degree in Physics from Loyola College of Baltimore and MS in Materials Science from Johns Hopkins University.
